Alexis has been the BEST dance instructor I could have ever asked for!
I have had the pleasure of knowing her for over six years…from private wedding dance lessons with my ex (marriage did not work out but finding my dance instructor soulmate did LOL), to a new love this year for group latin dance.

Dance has filled my spirit with the purest joy, during a very challenging and healing part of my life.

It has been such a pleasure to learn from Alexis, meet new friends, have 2 hours of blissful learning & dance weekly…she even sets up beach dancing and going out to dance venues for fun!

Alexis is truly a beautiful person, inside and out. She teaches with a constant smile on her face, music and her soul and kindness in her heart.
She is so incredibly patient, whether teaching privately or multiple people at once. Her technique is impeccable and she really focuses on proper form, movement and flow. You are learning real movement and proper technique with her, but in a very non-judgmental, patient and compassionate environment…not to mention, it is so fun to make new friends and alternate dance partners in a cozy setting.

I am so happy that I have found my home, and look forward to continuing group dance with Alexis for years to come!

Alexis is a wonderfully engaging and expert dance teacher. Her teaching style is encouraging and warm, with an emphasis on fundamentals and technique. I have a dance background but not specifically with salsa, and was really interested in getting better at it since there's such a big and thriving salsa dance community in LA. I love that she challenges me while making every class fun—two hours go by so so quickly.

Beyond the dancing itself, Alexis has also cultivated a special community that's uplifting, welcoming, and full of positivity/good vibes. You can't buy that!

Alexis is an awesome instructor! Since attending her class we haven’t looked for other studios and have been dancing with her for a year now 🙂

She is a very talented teacher who cares about technique. If you are a beginner or even if you have taken dance lessons before Alexis can teach you something new! I used to dance ballroom and am very impressed with the way she teaches.

She is also a very sweet and welcoming person who creates a great sense of community! The class will often go to salsa/bachata socials together 🙂

Alexis is an extremely knowledgeable and compassionate instructor. She will match you where you are and always provides constructive feedback that will help you understand your problem areas beyond rote routine as your skills progress.

She will take you through the foundational skills necessary to establish an understanding of the basics, weight transfer, connection, and musicality in partner dance.

Coming from no prior dance experience and some social anxiety, this has been instrumental in developing the understanding and confidence to hit the dance floor in LA's vibrant social scene along with my fellow students.

Alexis reminds you that the skills built in class need to be practiced to truly be owned rather than rented from class to class. Thankfully, she makes this easy by building a community of students who have been fast friends and partners in the study and love of dancing salsa. We go out social dancing together, host potluck parties, arrange dance festival trips, and really work to build each other up.

Your dance skills will only go as far as you push yourself to improve, but Alexis and all the great people at LASBDA make it as easy as it can be and, most importantly, fun!

Dancing with Alexis has been a phenomenal experience! A friend of mine recommend LA Salsa and Bachata Dance Academy because Alexis is a great instructor. She makes it easy and fun to learn! Her focus on technique and ensuring that her students learn the fundamentals shows as we progress throughout the nine-week course.

I’ll be taking her courses during this summer as well to continue developing my Salsa and Bachata skills.

Xavier Dedenbach

This place is awesome for novices and experienced dancers alike. Alexis and team are fantastic teachers, they do a great job of explaining how to do each move and providing actionable feedback on how to improve your technique. This is huge and is quite different from the experience of a salsa class that is run by a salsa club. We practice in class and go out as a group.

Each season lasts 8-12 weeks. I took a couple of seasons of Salsa 1 to learn the basics of both partnership and individual moves. Each of the seasons covered different techniques. I was constantly impressed how learning a move from an earlier week worked into a larger pattern later in the season. In salsa 2 the patterns get more complicated and fun!

What makes this studio truly special, is that it's a place you can dance for years, make new friends and really become a great dancer.
