Normally I do not write reviews for anything and if i do it is regulated to a few quick blurbs. For D-Toxd this hidden treasure I had try and do it justice with a real review. So here goes...
From the moment I arrived at D-Toxd "The Retreat" I knew I was someplace special. Going beyond the stunning views from atop a mountain in Spain and the immaculate loved villa and rooms that awaited us...all nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the city and daily rat race. The immediate feel of D-Toxd was one of welcome and of coming home. No matter who you were or where you were coming from you were here to just...BE.
The first smiling face meeting us was of Pie, Gareth "The Bouncing Chef's" rescue dog, bounding out to greet us. She is just a pure ball of love and energy. The rooms are all immaculate with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
The views and the beauty of the location aside DToxd is more than that. The first night of everyone sharing Paella, the 2 or 3 days of juices, the most gorgeously prepared vegetarian meals, the
DToxd philosophy is not just working on getting your body in shape (inside and out) but you have the ability to work on the mind...the how and why we may let our bodies go or not do the right things we may already know we should be doing to take care of ourselves.
The beauty of all this is that all the walks, hikes, yoga, meditation, boxercise, strength training, rebounding, mindset talks, classes are completely optional. Sometimes you may do one of the the optional therapy sessions (body massages, colonics, kinesiology, reflexology and a few others I forget) and may feel tired or just need quiet and space and you can do just that. You can go for walks in nature and enjoy the peace and quiet, meditate or read. Whatever it is you need to find that spark, that best part of you that may have been worn down by normal daily life and work...then do it...JOIN IN.
The incredible week ends with a three-course meal prepared and served by Gareth and Jeroen. It is a final gathering of everyone in laughter and smiles as you dine on each course that is beautiful to behold and divine to taste.
As you leave, hugs are shared with your fellow guests and staff...your new family.
What more can I say then I hope you do get a chance to experience the magic created by Gareth and Jeroen and their staff of coaches and therapists.
For myself, I am looking forward to returning to DToxd and my new family.
